Are you glorified or to be glorified?

  • I went through a phase last year where I thought I was already glorified, sinless and immortal... I took many passages out of context...Although this is partly true because He is our True Identity .... however, I was missing half the picture...the other half of the picture was that I still had flesh and my mind still had carnal thoughts.... I was denying anything physical yet I thought I was being more spiritual than everyone else..

Here is the Truth... as long as we have a flesh suit on earth..there is still some degree of darkness (ignorance)...Yes, He is our identity however, we are growing in the knowledge of HIM day by day... WE are working out our salvation by the renewing of our minds!...
Grace can only be revealed through sin.....Without flesh/sin His righteousness can not be revealed....To say that we are already Glorified, Immortal and sinless would mean there is no need for Grace and we've just put ourselves in above His Righteousness ."self exaltation"...
Paul had to die daily..self is always trying to rise above...

    • Ed Elliott Paul did not die daily to his flesh, he understood he was crucified with Christ and he considered his flesh dead already. Paul's comments about dying daily were in context to the fact he risked his life everyday to preach the gospel. He said he fought wild beasts in Ephesus and we can see in the book of Acts how he was bit by a viper was stoned, shipped wreck etc. Paul was saying that if Christ had not been raised from the dead why would he risk his life to preach the gospel because his faith would be in vain. Jesus did all the dying for us, He gave us His life in exchange for our death. Believers live through Him, not by dying to the flesh that is already dead through the cross.
    • DAwn Rubin 11 For we who are living are ever being given up to death because of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
12 So that death is operating in us, yet life in you.
    • DAwn Rubin 31 I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. ..1 Cor 15..
    • Tom NeSmith Grace is a unary operator. It requires no further operands. .
    • DAwn Rubin Genesis 3:4

      New King James Version (NKJV)

4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
      Gen 3
    • Pang William Can I say it this way... Actually our flesh is dead, nailed on the cross... but our body still lives though fallen... but to which direction would depend on our soul. If we walk according to the flesh, we will die (our body) but if we walk according to the Spirit, we will live... glorify through our body.
    • Ed Elliott Dawn, you missed my point, Paul didn't die daily go read the context, he was talking about risking his life to spread the gospel. The verses you quoted have nothing to do with dying daily.
    • Pang William However... we will be glorified! Rom 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
    • DAwn Rubin I die to 'my will'l daily..."Not my will but His will be done"....
as long as we are alive we will have caranl thoughts to override with the Word....
Jesus didn't take away our flesh/carnal thoughts...He disarmed it..but this is only overcome by renewwing our minds...
    • DAwn Rubin Rom 7:23 yet I am observing a different law in my members, warring with the law of my mind, and leading me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
      24 A wretched ma
n am I! What will rescue me out of this body of death? Grace!
25 I thank God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Consequently, then, I myself, with the mind, indeed, am slaving for God's law, yet with the flesh for Sin's law. ..
    • Ed Elliott Dawn, Paul taught to consider our flesh as dead. If you are dying to it every day than you aren't considering it dead now are you. Carnal thoughts are not sin unless you allow them by mediating on them. You can't stop the birds flying over your head but you can stop them if they make a nest in your head. Meditating on such thoughts is how sin is conceived. Reject the thoughts by thinking on what is pure and lovely. The devil tried to get Jesus to think differently but He rebuked him with Gods word. Grace makes it easy, there is no reason to be obsessed with death when we can be just as obsessed with His Life in us.
Go back and read what Paul actually said and you will see he wasn't saying he died to his flesh daily but that he risked his life everyday to share the gospel and if Jesus wasn't raised from the dead his work would be in vain.
    • DAwn Rubin 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. 8 We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you...
    • DAwn Rubin 11 For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death is working in us, but life in you.....
    • DAwn Rubin A long as we are ON EARTH with a flesh suit..we are going to have carnal thoughts to overrihide....I never said we should mediate on it...I said we are going to have them wether we want to admit it or not....
    • DAwn Rubin when a thought comes into our mind that we are poor or sick or lack...<---this back="back" by="by" carnal="carnal" comes="comes" cross...but="cross...but" defeated="defeated" into="into" is="is" it="it" mind....="mind...." mind="mind" minds..we="minds..we" notice="notice" our="our" overrhide="overrhide" s="s" span="span" speaking="speaking" still="still" talks="talks" tha="tha" the="the" these="these" thoughts="thoughts" to="to" truth...="truth..." us.....yes="us.....yes">
    • Ed Elliott Dawn, flooding the thread with scriptures that you think support your view is nesscary. Try dealing with the topic at hand. You quote verses that you don't know the context of and believes it supports your position. Example is Rom 7 about warring flesh etc. did you happen to notice that Paul said that it was Jesus who gave him the victory? Apparently not! We are in a ear Dawn but it is one that Christ has already won for us and that is why we are more than triumphant. It isn't your dying that gives you the victory over the flesh it is Jesus death that does. We live in Him and have our being. You can twist and tork verses out of context as you done for a while, to try and support an erroneous unbiblical view that you hold this week but I am sure as another year passes you will make another post acknowledging you we're confused again. You can be obsessed with death and dying every day or allow Gods life to consume you. Funny you don't believe in free will but whose will was it that got you into error?
    • DAwn Rubin Jesus didn't take our carnal thougths away...you continual condesscending comments to me is proof...
    • Ed Elliott Dawn, my comments were not at all condescending but intended to help you see that you have become a death obsessed believer and not one living in and through His life in us.
      Carna
l thoughts unless meditated on and conceived into sin are powerless and they don't come from our flesh but our life experiences and previous knowledge. People can give you carnal thoughts, it is why we are told to not listen to ungodly wisdom. It isn't the thought that is the sin but what you do with the thought that is. Sin management won't give you victory but grace will. His death took care of all the dying one needs to do. Jesus came to give us life, not more dying.
    • DAwn Rubin Gen 3:4
    • Ed Elliott Dawn, if you paid attention I never quoted the Devil but Jesus and Paul. I also never said we would never die physically. Our flesh is decaying but not my spirit who is the real me and as Paul said, I am controlled by Gods love. I agree with Paul 100%! You can keep dying daily if you like, I choose to live my life in Him and let His life flow in and through me even my flesh. To be spiritually minded, isn't to be death obsessed. I hope you discover this amazing truth but since you don't believe in free will, you can keep blaming God for your will, since it isn't free, it isn't your fault.

    • DAwn Rubin actually Ed...maybe it's time you paid attention...
The real Everbody is Spirit(HIM)...free-wil is just an illusion (wich btw..will die also)
      When people die. physically...they die
...not only does their BODY decay..their soul dies too.....
We do not have consciousness if we do not have a body.....
When we die..we don't have a spirit ball with a conscious floating around...we actaully die...no consciousness..our soul is in Hades/unseen....
The Father will resurrect us..in HIs timing (either when Jesus returns or after the 1,000 years reign Rev 20).....
We will get resurrected...just like Jesus was.......we are NOT immortal now...there is only ONE immortal now
WE will die...we will also get resurrected.......
    • Ed Elliott Dawn, my body will die but my spirit is alive with God. I know I will receive a glorified body and my body isn't who I am or ever was.
You might want to do some research on Gnostic
ism the early church was infiltrated by it and many epistles were written to combat its errors. You have embraced more of it than you realized.
I could say a lot more but from past discussions with you I know I be wasting my time.

    • DAwn Rubin Ed..your Spirit without a body has no consciusness.....There is ONE ONE SPIRIT (Eph 4)
the gnsoticism comment..your talking about yourslef!!! you think your Spirit has a soul!..LOL..
    • Pang William DAwn... Why are you so sure that a spirit without a body has no consciousness? Jesus said in Luke 16 that the rich man died and being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off asking for mercy, for water to cool his tongue, for he is tormented in this flame... He is certainly conscious of his torments and likewise Lazarus is comforted on the side...

    • DAwn Rubin Pang...Luke 16 is a parable...parables are not to be taken Literal...it's a type and shadow of a spiritual Truth
    • DAwn Rubin death=absense of life
      the dead know nothing..Ecc 9:5
    • Pang William Ok DAwn... I believe the Truth shall be revealed one day... like Light over darkness, Life over death... Be it parables or not, they are the Word and the Word is Truth. John 17:17... Shalom.
