(2) its the act of faith that we are invited HIM to get involved in our financial and the rest of 90% shall be blessed and multiply as the seed that we receivde from the world is come from the curse of the Ground and by bringing the tithe upon the lord, the seeds that we received shall no more under the curse but blessed..Amen!

For my husband and me, we tithe as a way of declaring that everything we have comes from God. Tithing is also our way of supporting our local church, because not everyone who works there have other sources of income, and God did say that the tithe is for food in His house: provision for those He called to serve His body in a way that would deprive them of the chance to earn income; Jesus also told His disciples once to not bring any money with them as they ministered, and eat whatever is set before them, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. We believe that there are still servants whom God calls to work "not bringing their money belts", not only in missions, but even in the local church, and we believe our tithe to be among the channels through which God will provide for their needs.

Tithe as our worship falls under the "category" of towdah: the sacrifice that we offer regardless of our own need at the moment, because we are trusting that God has already planned our provision. And lastly, for some reason, our hearts rest better when we tithe. I don't know why, I feel under no obligation at all to tithe to be blessed. But in times when I have said "Lord, I won't give this to the church or our missionary friends, because there is this need coming up," it seems to me that I relied more on the money in my hand than on the God who is Provider and Provision. Then there is the math game that God somehow plays with us: even when we give beyond 10% (and we do), God sends gifts and treats into our lives, so that when we compute everything, it comes out that we had only given 10% of everything we received. Tithing is a fun activity we, my husband and I, have with God. It has become an intensely personal thing for us that God has used to free our hearts from fear of lack.

Well, if you look at tithing in the bible, God does refer to material things: harvest, livestock, income. And it's not so much about sowing to get more. Those verses were encouragement to those who sow, those who give, specially in spite of their poverty, that God will grow their gifts just as He grows a plant seed, and will give them a bountiful harvest for it, same as in farming/gardening. When you plant a seed, do you only expect one fruit from it in its entire growth? God knows our inherent fear for lack, which is what causes us to hoard and not give. Showing the example of sowing and reaping is a way of telling us that when we give, we are not throwing away, but sowing seed, and that in time, there will be a great harvest, just as one seed does not yield only one fruit, but many, and sometimes for how many years, outliving the one who planted it. It's a physical law that God used to explain the mystery of giving. It is unfair to accuse someone who tithes and gives as doing it simply to get more, when it was God Himself who assures the "more" after. Those who have been given peace about tithing are some of the most generous, open-handed people you will ever meet, because they have experienced for themselves the truth of how God supplies their own need, and have begun to see that what they have is God's way of providing for and supplying the needs of not just themselves, but of the rest of the body of Christ. In the end, they reflect to others God's own giving nature, His gracious generosity, not just for our spiritual needs, but even for our physical needs as well.

      I posted this before...

Under the law... Luk 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. ... Under the law, it is self motivated.

Under Grace... Give, for Christ has given you... 2Co 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. ... Under Grace, it is love motivated.

Under the law, we sow to reap... but under grace, we reap to sow.

Before the cross, the Seed is a picture of Christ... the Fristfruit. In 1Ki 17:12 ... the handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar is a picture of the Seed.

After the cross, the Seed is sown and harvest is at hand. 2Co 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work... to sow in Love!

William, it seems you are equating "tithe" with giving to get, and not out of love. That's a serious judgment, if so. Do not disregard the personal aspect of the relationship of each Christian with his God. If you say that a tither does not love God but is only giving to receive, then you have judged wrongly. If that is how you see it in yourself, then by all means, do not tithe. But don't accuse those who do of having only that one motivation for doing it. For me, personally, as I have said, tithing was how God delivered me from fear of lack and to see the truth that He provides and supplies for my physical needs as well, and it has encouraged me to not be afraid to give. Now I tithe because of the love I receive from the Father who supplies all my needs, not to get. God knows where we are all at in our walk of faith, and if He does not shrink from teaching faith through the tithe, why judge those who give through the tithe?
      Yesterday at 11:20am · · 1

Sorry, William...didn't mean to accuse you back. But when you compared old testament tithing and new testament giving, there was that implication that tithers only give to get blessed. And it's just not true. It's almost like saying those who do not steal, do not murder, do not commit adultery, and honor their parents and the Sabbath are putting themselves back under the law. If grace truly sets us free, then it also sets us free to worship God with our tithes. It pains me to see how grace people seem so intent in contrasting with the law that they can sometime make grace as strict as the law...does it make us less loving of God because we use a law term for our giving? And how sure are you that the christians who "don't tithe, but give because Christ has given everything to them" have no other motive than love? Iit is the "under grace" givers who were given a more detailed description of sowing and reaping -- so if tithers will be said to have more than love as their motive, then so do the "under grace" givers, who were told that their giving is as sowing seed, and if they sowed bountifully, they would also reap bountifully. Both "types" have the potential to give out of less than love for God. But I don't see it bothering God one bit. And if God accepts both, then by His grace, I accept them both as well.

William, I agree. I only refused to make one motive better than the other, because God knows where we are all at, and He doesn't say one motive is better than the other, so I don't want to do that. Being assured of more when you give is not the same as giving just to get more. I believe that all Christians after the cross do things because of what Christ did for them first, so they love, tithe/give because of it. They just don't say it outright when asked, because, I think, it's like an open secret now, that we believers primarily do things because of what Jesus did for us first, and so we just give the little details of how Jesus has led us in certain things, like in tithing and giving. It is Jesus who matters, not us. Not what we do, or even why we do it. Just Jesus, always Jesus.

Now comes the main point... He who has ear let him hear!

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

What is this tree? The knowledge of good and evil... The Law... The Tithe!!!

Who fulfilled the Law? Jesus fulfilled the Law... Jesus is Love fulfilled the Law... Rom 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

Who fulfilled the Tithe? Jesus fulfilled the Tithe... Jesus is the Firstfruit fulfilled the Tithe... as our Sacrificial Lamb unto God... Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.

The Tithe is same as the Law... a picture of Jesus Christ. The Law is not meant for man to eat... so is the Tithe! Praise Daddy God for Christ has fulfilled the requirement of the Law and offered for our Firstfruit... on the cross.

As Abraham tithed a tenth of the spoils to Melchizedek... even Levi paid tithes through Abraham... a picture of Jesus offered Himself as Tithe the Firstfruit to God... even so we by Faith in Christ paid tithes through Jesus Christ!

Here is for those who seek the deeper revelation...

Mal 3:10 Bring [ye] all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. (KJV)

Noted that I bracket the [ye] above... Who do you think is that [ye]? ... or do you think is you? Let's see the King James Version with strong number Lexicon...

Mal 3:10 Bring H935 ye (H853) all H3605 the tithes H4643 into H413 the storehouse, H1004 H214 that there may be H1961 meat H2964 in mine house, H1004...

And now see that [ye] is with H853 Strong's Hebrew Lexicon... which is את - Aleph Tav... meaning the Alpha and Omega... meaning the First and the Last... meaning the Beginning and the end. Now who do you think is the Beginning and the end?

Rev 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

The reason for these posts is not to stop anyone from giving... but truly understand the meaning of Tithe. The truth is if you truly know the Truth... you give everything away. Giving isn't a question anymore but a priority in you. You might just give yourself away... haha

But but... still many churches uses Mal 3 (a guilt approach) and other verses such as 2Co 9:6 ...He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully (a reward approach) to draw money from the congregation...

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Lets see at what God said about the Tithe under the Law... from Deuteronomy 14:22-26 and note the bracket [ ] text...

Deu 14:22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth [year by year].

... It was all the increase in kinds... not just money. And it is done only once a yearly.

Deu 14:23 And [thou shalt eat] before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.

... You are supposed to eat your tithe... not give them to the church.

Deu 14:24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: 25 Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: 26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and [thou shalt eat] there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,

... You and your household are suppose to eat your tithe which was difficult to carry and convected to money... not give to your pastors.
    • Pang William Also... lets see it in Strong Number Lexicon...

Deu 14:22 Thou shalt truly tithe 6237, 6237 (853) all 3605 the increase 8393 of thy seed, 2233 that the field 7704 bringeth forth 3318 year 8141 by year. 8141

Do you notice the (853) after the word tithe? If you don't know the meaning... you might want to refer to my previous comment on Mal 3:10 above.
    • Pang William
One more verse in Strong Number Lexicon...

Deu 14:23 And thou shalt eat 398 before 6440 the LORD 3068 thy God, 430 in the place 4725 which 834 he shall choose 977 to place 7931 his name 8034 there, 8033 the tithe 4643 of thy corn, 1715 ofthy wine, 8492 and of thine oil, 3323 and the firstlings 1062 of thy herds 1241 and of thy flocks; 6629 that 4616 thou mayest learn 3925 to fear 3372 (853) the LORD 3068 thy God 430 always. 3605, 3117

Noted the (853) after the word fear? Again Aleph Tav appeared. To put it in context... It shall be: ...that thou mayest learn to fear/worship Aleph Tav - Jesus Christ the LORD thy God always. To fear/worship the LORD is to eat your Tithe, your sacrificial Lamb... before the LORD thy God.

Heb 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. ... Col 2:17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
