Tithe is offering our love to God

Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: "Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." And he gave him a tithe of all. (Gen 14:18-20)

He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. (2Co 9:6-7) Melchizedek - a picture of Jesus Christ of the Old Testament, after He offered the bread and wine to God, He blessed Abram and Abram gave tithe. Tithe is an offering of our love to God, our thanks giving, our heart felt praises to God. We tithed because He first love us. We tithed not because we want more, even though we will. Will you still tithe if you won't get anymore? God knows money means a lot to us, especially in time of need. But that's the time we show our love for God over money. That's why we tithe because we love God. Give cheerfully and that you can never out give God. Hear Him!
