  A law of commandments contained in ordinances is abolished, but God's law isn't, 1Cor9v21. There's a difference between "God's law" and it's administration. The Mosaic Law was an adminstration of works, which is ended. Pure grace, reconciled relationship has someone under the dominion of righteousness - but not through an adminstration of works which could never deliver - but grace, and faith working by love...."God's law" is ultimately not the Mosaic administration, but just "the way everything works when its fully fulfilling it's abundant, created design"...The Psalmist writes of the moon and the stars fulfilling God's "law", and he obviously doesn't mean the Mosaic law of commandments contained in ordinances"...Plus, we have what the epistles call "commandments" in the new covenant, which are more than just "believe the gospel", (but which are "filled out" by believing the gospel). The difference is they are not "laws contained in ordinances", commandments that come in an adminstration of "this do and live", "quid pro quo". We don't have a legalistic, employer-employee relationship with Abba, Father. But we do have the substance of "God's law" in the form of life, in grace, love, faith-relationship.............So I haven't watched the video, but perhaps the person is trying to convey something of the 10 commandments of the Mosaic law nevertheless conveying something of what is eternally "good" (of "God's law")...Just at the same times, it sounds from you folks like they think the "life" of them, the substance, the spirit, is found with a slavish legalistic spirit of being "under law" (a law-based relationship/adminstration of works).

  I am not a legalist by any means, but since when did the commandments of the law become evil? Is murder still bad? Yep. IS lying still bad? Yep. Is adultery still bad? Yep. Is dishonoring your parents still bad? Yep.
  Trusting in the Law to save you and make you righteous by works is Bad. Jesus did that Himself. But, we probably shouldn't be killing people. I think we all agree on that (I hope).
  Bu the New Testament isn't without rules and guidelines for godly conduct. That means that you can't just do whatever you want. There is still right and wrong. The difference now is that we are already righteous before God and Jesus empowers us to live a holy life. Check out the first half of Ephesians 6 for example. Paul quotes the Ten Commandments and tells children to listen to it.

The more we try to keep it, the more we are under condemnation for not keeping it. The "right stand" is to rely on Jesus to live the christian life in us, through us as us!

  I don't believe anyone who is truly not seeking to justify themselves by "the law" is living by "self-effort" of a wrong variety. At least in the sense of "dominion" of their persons. That was Paul's issue in Rom7.We live ourselves, but with a "spirit" that is in union with Christ. The NT commands etc are addressed to us, not Christ, but we have a dynamic, a "life" to us, of love-relationship,reconciled to God as Father, dead to a rules-and-regulations adminstration of the law, which empowers us, just as it agrees with the spirit of grace and faith. The "I" that no longer lives, Gal2v20, is not "me my soul and body", but "me my soul and body under dominion of justification by works". Thus Paul can just as much address our souls and efforts with "commands", as he can our life and rest. "Effort" is good, the nature of it, the context in which it's energized, is not necessarily. But if I have a spirit of justification by grace alone though faith alone,which is a spirit of "rest" I am free to make every effort myself,according as I am yet able, because I am now a "new" "I", as it were....I think that's about where I am, or heading at least.

  I think Phil that the key to our understanding lies in that we not have any nature in our selves. We are just a vessel who derives from one of two deitys(natures). There cannot be an "I".... and also the Spirit of God, as in a relationship. "We are joint together ONE spirit with God; Two spirit as ONE! So by formerly being indwellded by the spirit of error we totally produced the fruit of sin, but after the exhange(through the Cross) we produce the righteous fruit by the Spirit of God. You see, when we focus on OUR doings and not our BE'ings(which is union with God; He and I as ONE) we are operating from what we can do for God, and therefore from a consciousness of seperation(God and me). That was what Paul experienced in Rom7, 18 "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells"; (a self without power/nature to do any good) Paul describe in 21 that evil is present in him, when he is trying to do good. (when he tries to do anything of himself). For truth is that we cannot do anything ourselves!

  I think that "nature" is often superimposed with a concept of "infused righteousness", whereas I see "nature" as the condition of the heart, what "dominates" it by "identity" - and I see that as something that is determined, not by being "possessed" of essential goodness or badness, but by relationship. If I have right relationship with God through justification, and I am in step with the spirit of the relationship, then I can do, as per were I am, Phil4v13. What I mean is, I am free to orginate in response to love-relationship, not a puppet......Two become one, a relational thing, not an essential mixing. I still have my own soul, but my own soul is "bound" in a right relationship. I am not a mere conduit, I am made in the image of God by first birth, and lifted up to life by second, new birth.

Obedience is not legalism, friend. If someone is not obedient, I do not call them a CHristian. for we must walk the walk and talk the talk. The fruits prove the tree ;)

  Good point, Ryan, We cannot take a few verses out of context and base doctrine on them. The entire NT must be read, verses that show the whole picture not just what we wish to see. It is the byproduct, the fruit of being righteous. If someone is continually living in sin, I seriously doubt their conversion. We cannot live like the Devil and still claim to have faith in Christ. For even the demons believe and tremble. There are many instructions on sanctification in the NT. We must bear fruit. We are not saved by the fruit, it grows naturally. Pang, did you look up the word 'sin' in a concordance yet or online to see how many times it is mentioned in the NT in regards to the fact that we can and do still sin. God still hates sin as much as ever. He never changes. I am not saying you live in sin, but we all occassionally do still sin. We cannot ignore that it is there. The tree that does not bear fruit, is cast into the fire to be burned. That is what Christ said. he called it worthless I believe. We are made new creatures to be able to follow Christ and to do His will. We are not to sin on purpose or to ignore it. Sin put Christ on the cross. We are to hate it. We are saved to live righteous lives in holy living. This Does NOT save us, Pang, as me and the others have stated. It is supposed to come naturally as part of who we belong to now. No matter how many times you repeat a few verses, it will not make the fact that we are to walk after the Spirit now and obey the gospel which is more than just lip service. It is an entire change of life. It changes us naturally. We are to abide in the vine to produce growth, fruit. We are under grace, not the law, but we are not free to do whatever we wish if it is evil. God bless.

  What Jesus did on the cross is done whether we believe it or not. If we believe it and agree with Him, our new condition(as new creatures), the Spirit will confirm to our spirit that we now are children of God, and that's our new born-experience. We are righteous because of the Righteous One who has putted us to death with Him and alive in Him through His ressurection. Nothing can change that. But as new bornagain believers we are still under the deception of being independed selves (which was the lie the devil decieved himself and the whole human race into(and he still tries, although we are now no longer under His ownership anymore)), not yet conscious of our Union with God in Christ. So we are now learning(by the Grace of God) to be who we were created to be, and that is a mere vessel containing God, through the process of the Spirit working us out of our self-suffieciency and self-relience, to become as nothing in ourself, so He can be the all(Himself) in us. That is our "growing into the fullness of Christ", that He can be the all in us", that He can "come out of us" as us! So we can say with Paul in Gal 2:20 " it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me". Our soul and body is not our identity but the means by which the spirit(which is now Hes Spirit and our spirit joined together as One) expresses through. Then in our new consciousness of Christ as me, we now live our daily life as our self in the foreground, well knowing that "I" is not me, but Christ! We are now free to be who we are, which is Christ as us(self for others), liberated from the deception of being independed self (self for self)

  You been reading Norman Grubb, haven't you, Mikkel? :) I have a few of his books myself. Yes, born again are united to His Spirit. I wouldn't go so far as to say Christ IS me now. But, I know what you mean. To allow Christ to live through us as vessels, we will walk as He walked. And we will want to obey by His Spirit. :) Obedience will not save but is required. It should be natural and believers should not have to even discuss that fact that we will want to. It should just be known. love fulfills the law as they are all summed up in love, but should nto have to be told that lying and murder etc..are evil, we should naturally hate them. The law written on our tablets of flesh now :) I am married and I fix Hubby din din everynight, not because I think he is going to not love me or divorce me if I do not, I do it to see him smile.   By continue to focus on our doings is to operate in a seperated consciousness of me seperated from God, doing the work. WE ARE IN UNION WITH GOD NOT INDEPENDED SELVES! We cannot sin, because we are no longer under rulership of the producer of sin(the devil), but totaly under rulership of God! We can commit sin which is an action contrary to who we really are! That doesn't make us sinners! We are saint who can commit sin, by forgetting who we are! If we think we by ourself can keep us self from sinning, we fell short of the law. We can only say "Lord, You are the only One who can keep me from sinning!" Yes Mindy, Norman Grubb is my favorite teacher. Thanks for notice it, Bro♥.   Ryan, the one in 1Co 5 had taken Grace for granted. If one insisted to live in sin, he shall be cast out of fellowship with the church. But Paul never said we are to go by the law. If one is truly of Christ, he won't need anyone to teach him to obey the law. We are Christ's, we are Love's... We naturally love one another. Not only we won't steal, we would give.

  How did the person take grace for granted? If it is free, how can you take for granted?

  I think Paul often corrected people because of their imatureness. He admonished the church in Corinth by saying in 1. Cor. 3; 1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? "Baby" Christians always need to be corrected, because they yet don't know who they are in Christ!

  Oh, I agree with that Mikkel. Its just that when Paul was teaching them and setting guidelines for them, he was NOT teachiing them to live under the law (as Pang would have everyone believe that I am saying), but there are still rules. And they line up with the Ten Commandments.
  They were told to follow these guidelines, not to BECOME righteous, but in order to show the world around them that their hearts had changed.
  No where have I ever said that anyone was teaching them to obey the Law. Here is an important spiritual truth though, Rules and Guidelines do not EQUAL the Law!

  We do follow by the 'newness of the Spirit' exactly and love fulfills the law, but there are guidelines to becoming holy in living and to help us to have lives that benefit us and others. We don't toss the entire NT out because we love Jesus, if we do love Him we want to learn how to become like Him and do what is pleasing to Him, to walk as He walked.... We are to work toward becoming like Christ daily. That is our goal, to run the race. As Ryan said, Paul stated to honor your mother and Father. Lots of atheists do that but it will not make them righteous, only the Blood alone does. But, we are still to honor them for this is love. Love fulfills the law. There are additional instructions to growing in holiness and Paul pointed them out as Ryan stated. Such as the commandments not to be followed to bring us righteousness but now are written on our hearts in the newness of spirit which we will automatically fulfill all of the law by living in love. <3Not only how do you take grace for granted, Ryan, but how also would one grieve the Spirit? by sinning. The bible has guidelines in it to make us happy and to help us walk as God wants us to walk. We should not forsake good instruction. The entire NT, heck the entire Bible is to be studied, and followed. Again, obedience to God's word is not legalism, it is loving God with all our heart, soul and Spirit. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. :)

- Mindy Thorn I do understand, Brother, am a Norman fan myself :) Those qualities are still embodied in one word... love.... :) He lives it through us, but there are also additional instructions that Paul gave and the other apostles that we are to heed to. It's not about trying to be saved, but because we are .

  Be it rules and guidelines or the law... They are the same as long as it is not led by the Spirit. Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

  I agree :) But we must still always follow instruction from the Lord. Friend, I am not stating no one is that we must follow to be righteous. You seem to think that. That is not true. We are righteous by His blood and nothing we do can add to the cross. But, in the NT there are directions regarding discipline and order in the churches, marriage guidelines etc... It is right to follow the whole counsel of God. To do so is not only wise, but pleases FAther to have children that wish to follow His will. We are led by the Spirit, but it is not wise to ignore sound teachings on our walk and conduct. This really should not even be a discussion, Friend. I think you are just misunderstanding us. We are to take the entire bible into counsel. THere were many that had the Spirit yet were confused on some issues. The bible is profitable for learning to mature in our walk. It has good advice for Godly living and how to best serve our Lord. You may ignore the Bible's instructions, Brother, but that is not wise. If that were the case no one would ever listen to sermons or teachers. We all need to be taught on issues. All fo us. Lest one be wise in His own eyes, let him realize that only God is wise and He speaks through His book to us for our profit and learning and maturity. I know what you are saying, Brother, but really we need to read the entire NT and apply it to our lives. This doesn't make us more righteous, it helps us grow in holiness and wisdom. God bless. ♥ ps; I think this conversation really shouldn't even be taking place that I have to dispute or any of us that we are to learn from the Bible and follow the instructions laid down to us by the prophets that spoke the Word of the Lord, and think I have said all that needs to be said on this issue.   Pang, I know the verses but still does not mean you don't have to follow the instructions in the NT or they would not be there from the apostles. There are some commands that say if you do not listen, bad results. I don't want to repeat myself either, as Mikkel said, but I do think you should read the NT again in its entirety not just a few verses and we know those which you just keep repeating what we are not denying. oy vey. Even instructions on marriage, those are not the law, they are beneficial and commands through Paul from the Lord. You just are not getting it. Anyway, have a great week and God bless, Brother. ♥

- Mindy Thorn We are to obey the entire NT, for the Spirit frees us to obey. Grace helps us obey and do the will of God, it does not free us from not obeying, and the Spirit leads and assists in this. To deny that we do not have to obey God, is not biblical. The entire bible and NT Included up until the last book instructs us to. Yes, through the spirit.
