The High Priest of the promised

Then Melchizedek king of Salem (king of righteousness) brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, "Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything. (Gen 14:18-20)

For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins. (Heb 5:1) ... though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him, called by God as High Priest "ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK," (Heb 5:8-10)

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. (Heb 6:17) So that we have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. (Heb 6:19-20)

Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant. (Heb 7:22) Unlike the other high priests, He does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for His own sins, and then for the sins of the people. Jesus being the High Priest for Abraham and also for us... offer one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God... It is finished! All is done and we believe and receive our rightful inheritance of the heirs of Abraham according to the promise by God. Hear Him!
