Righteousness is given, not earned

Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness. He also said to him, "I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans* to give you this land to take possession of it." (Gen 15:6-7) ... On the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying: "To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt** to the great river, the River Euphrates***—(Gen 15:18)

* Ur of the Chaldeans = Valley of the robbers
** River of Egypt = River of oppression
*** River of Euphrates = River of fruitfulness

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. (Heb 8:10-12) For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that He has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. (Heb 9:15) Now that you have believed in Christ, righteousness is credited unto you and so come boldly to receive your promised inheritance. Righteousness is given, not earned. Hear Him!
